Hi there! Today Helga want to tell you her scary story happened to her at a summer camp.
"I'm scared of many things - darkness, big insects, or even that my parents would suddenly die and I would be left all alone... Except for one thing.
My parents always send me to a summer camp. They say, in summer city kids should stay in the fresh air, get healthier and stronger before the new school year. I live in the city center, so I stay in camp for the whole three summer months. My mom has some bonus at her job, so my summer vacations are almost free of charge for our family budget.
The third trip was already a common thing to me. Nobody was rushing with packing things and we even didn’t forget anything. This time I went not too far – just out of the city. The camp was somewhere in the middle of a big pine forest.
But they could call me and see my location. I was OK without a cell, as I myself didn’t really understand my classmates who are always stuck in them.
Anyway, the camp was good. We had rooms for two. Me and my new friend, Mary, lived together and chatted at night. The food was also fine…. well, not like my mom’s, but everything was tasty. And yeah, the entertainment was fine, as well. Disco, competitions, gym, swimming pool, hobby groups... I immediately checked-in the drawing and swimming groups. I love swimming and I dream of becoming an architect in my future.
Sometimes we went hiking to the woods. We were kinda boy scouts – we pitched tents, made bonfires, made pikes from branches (well, boys mostly), or we made beautiful wreaths.
One day they gave us baskets and told us to pick mushrooms. Once I already went for mushrooms with my parents, and I didn't really like it. But now that was a camp task, so I took a basket and toddled to the meadow, looking for mushrooms. Of course, I found nothing. But I saw wild raspberries. Well, I decided to pick them up at least, instead of mushrooms.
While I was picking them up, I realised it was too quiet. I looked around, but I saw nothing. And the scariest thing was…. I heard nothing! I mean, you just can’t mishear a group of 30 kids if they’re somewhere nearby. But there was only silence and birds singing on the trees.
I sat on a log, ate raspberries from the basket and decided to do something. I checked my watch, but... it turned out while I was waiting for help, the battery ran out of power. And it started getting dark in the woods.
Honestly, I wouldn’t wish this to anyone. All my fears and nightmares fell down on me at once. I thought some large glowing eyes were watching me behind the bushes, trees were moving their roots and other creepy things. Then I climbed a tree and tried to take the situation under control.
I didn’t see any routes or the camp. But I found the electric wires and I started going in their direction. Well, sooner or later, they would lead me somewhere. Maybe to the road or to some people. But I couldn’t walk long – I was too exhausted, and I just fell asleep right on the ground. I thought I'd probably die there.
I woke up from someone screaming my name.
It turned out my mom tried to call me on my smart-watch in the evening. She didn’t succeed, so she called the group leader. The leader came into our room, but I was not there. The panic started.
Seems like, it’s just an ordinary situation. Anything can happen. But we went to the woods after lunch and mom called me late in the evening, just before the lights out. All this time nobody had been looking for me. But the camp’s principal told them there were no violations, and besides, nobody could prove that it was just my secret escape. So, my parents didn’t succeed. However, after this story many kids were taken back home, like me. The camp became almost empty".
